Electricity for the rest of October

Open for help. Added 15 Oct 2026 by Siyakhana Community Kitchen.

Thandi works mornings at a laundromat and looks after her mother and two children. Her hours were cut in September and the prepaid meter ran out last week. The family has been cooking on a paraffin stove. R600 buys about a month of electricity for the house.

Why you can trust this case

  • Siyakhana Community Kitchen met Thandi and checked the bill in person.
  • The money is paid to City of Cape Town prepaid electricity, which we have checked. It never goes to a personal bank account.
  • Thandi can only have one open case at a time.
  • The partner must upload the receipt within 14 days of receiving the money.
